Purim Sundae party

SANDTON - Purim Sundae was Chabad House's Goodness and Kindness Centre’s creative take on this year’s Jewish Purim celebration.

There was entertainment for all ages including a jumping castle and Hamentashen bar. A light supper was served with ice-cream sundaes for dessert, and the celebration featured a child-friendly reading of the biblical scroll of Esther, known in Hebrew as the Megillah, accompanied by a multimedia slide show.

According to Rabbi Ari Kievman, participants were encouraged to come in fancy dress and join in a fashion show. People dressed up in costumes and stood a chance to win prizes for the most innovative or funny costume.

“The event is a community-wide programme and all were welcome to join, regardless of Jewish affiliation or background,” said Kievman.
