The email warns the recipient that a high school in the Fourways area had contacted the sender to alert them to the issue of a woman who has been targeting local schools with the intention of abducting young children.
It further warns that two other schools in the Fourways and Sandton areas have also been targeted.
In the email, a description of the suspect is given as being a white woman between the ages of 40 to 60 with red, scraggly hair. She is said to drive a white or blue Fortuna.
Recipients of the email are told that they should report any suspicious strangers immediately.
The email has been doing the rounds and causing panic among teachers and parents.
However, when two of the three schools identified in the email were contacted they stressed that they had not sent out the warning and no such incidents had occurred.
