Employee wellness walk

SANDTON - Financial services provider, Citi South Africa participated in a Global Heart Awareness Campaign in Sandton.

The campaign kicked off with a presentation by professional biokeneticicist, Daniel Donally and dietician, Liz Kullmann. This was followed by a fitness demonstration that was sponsored by Virgin Active Alice Lane gym. The Citi Restaurant also participated and demonstrated healthy cooking preparation methods for the employees. The final event was the 3.5km walk led by professional gym instructors of Alice Lane gym and the ambassador, Mark Pilgrim. Prior to the walk a nurse performed blood pressure tests on the participants.

Vanashree Moodley of Citi said the company promoted the Global Heart Health Awareness Campaign annually. “The definition of heart health does not differ amongst countries or languages, it is a universal and international disease,” said Moodley. “The good news is that the most common types of heart disease can be prevented by adopting a healthy lifestyle and lowering risk factors.” Moodley added that Citi South Africa had dedicated the month of February to the campaign by promoting health awareness and involving staff in a variety of lectures, demonstrations and activities.

Donna Oosthuyse, managing director and Citi Country officer said, “We hope through our support of health and wellness campaigns such as Global Heart Health, we can continue to motivate and encourage our employees to make healthy decisions and create a culture of health at Citi.”
