To prosecute Zuma, or not
SANDTON - There has been no word from the Department of Public Prosecution about Duduzane Zuma’s culpable homicide investigation.
The media has been paying close attention to the case after one person died and two others were critically injured after Zuma’s collision with a taxi on 1 February in Sandton on Grayston Drive.
The Gauteng deputy provincial commissioner, detective services, Major General Tebello Mosikili announced on 19 February that the investigation of culpable homicide had been presented to the office of the department for a decision to be made on whether there was a case to be pursued or not.
On 27 February Brigadier Neville Malila, Gauteng police spokesperson said, “We are still waiting for a response from the department. They still need to make a decision on whether the case will go to court and whether there will be a prosecution or not.”
Malila added that there was no preferential treatment taking place. “This is the procedure that takes place for any other case of culpable homicide,” he explained.
Malila said there was no date or time set for the department to announce their decision, but he said it was expected to be soon.
