Quality coffee gives customers a buzz

RIVONIA- The Daily Buzz believes in the value of good service, especially when it comes to a great cup of coffee.

According to operations director of the coffee shop, Chris Brown, every customer should have “the exact same experience”.

In order to offer his customers a consistent product, Brown strongly believes in training his staff with soft and hard skills, and it’s evident through Brown’s approach that every cup of coffee can be thought of as an art form.

According to Brown, many people let customer service slide in the hospitality industry. His aim is to bring staff members in that will not only be taught about the process of making coffee, but also how to be charismatic and friendly towards customers.

The Daily Buzz coffee counters work on a production line. Each staff member manages their own station, ensuring the quality of the product.

Brown, who learned about making coffee in London, experienced the different steps of the coffee culture process, and has shared them with his staff. He was trained to evaluate different coffee beans and brewing; he also has undertaken barista courses and he’s well-versed in the management of coffee shops. He has passed this knowledge onto his staff members, who feel enriched with the lessons they receive.

Memory Ndlovu has worked for the brand for four years.

“I meet new people every day, and never feel bored. I always have a different experience,” said Ndlovu.

Ndlovu added, “I was never a coffee lover before, but now I see the value in it as I have been educated about the product.”

The Daily Buzz also delivers in-house coffee beans while Marshalltown coffee roasters produces their own artisanal brand used in Daily Buzz coffees.

“This way, we can spend more time with the grading of the coffee; we have a highly skilled roaster who keeps improving the level of quality,” said Brown.
