Serial shoplifter bust in Hyde Park

HYDE PARK - A WOMAN was bust for shoplifting in a retail shop at the Hyde Park Shopping Centre.

The 35-year-old female was taken into custody at the Bramley Police Station after an employee at the store reported the crime to the police. Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson for the Bramley police said, “The employee saw three women going in and out of the fitting rooms. Two of the women left the store without buying anything.”

He said when the third woman exited the store, the sensor machine beeped.

“The woman was found with a black nylon and leather Givenchy jacket valued at R24 000,” added Maphakela.

He said the woman has five recorded cases of theft from various provinces.

“Every time she uses a different name when she gets arrested, and she claims that she has lost her ID. She is wanted for theft in the Eastern Cape, Pinetown, Pretoria and Cape Town,” said Maphakela.

She is expected to appear in the Randburg Magistrate’s Court soon.
