Robbers tie up domestic worker at workplace

SANDTON - Three men robbed a home in Sandhurst.

Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela, spokesperson of the Bramley police said the men arrived while the domestic worker was feeding the dog. The men entered through the dining room door which was open. “They told her they were looking for jewellery and a safe,” said Maphakela.

“They took her along while they searched the rooms. Afterwards they tied her up in the dining room area. Her hands and feet were tied together.”

He said the men broke into the storeroom and took bottles of wine and two boxes of unknown items. The domestic worker overheard the men talking and it seemed that one of the men use to be part of the garden service at the house. Maphakela said the men also used a grinder to try and open the safe.

“We are appealing to the community to be security conscious during this time of the year. Make sure all doors and gates are secured at all times,” added Maphakela.

No arrests have been made and an investigation is underway.
