Mbombela to host Telkom Knockout final

JOBURG - The final of the Telkom Knockout Cup will be played at the Mbembela Stadium on 7 December.

All roads will lead to Mbombela Stadium in Mpumalanga for the final of the Telkom Knockout Cup on 7 December.

The Premier Soccer League has confirmed the Mbombela Stadium as the venue for the final to be decided after this weekend’s semi-final games.

The semis will see SuperSport United take on Orlando Pirates at the Lucas ‘Masterpieces’ Moripe Stadium and Kaizer Chiefs will play the unpredictable Platinum Stars at the FNB Stadium. Both matches kick off on 23 November at 3pm and 8:15pm respectively.

League CEO, Brand de Villiers said the two week gap between the semis and final would give the organisers and sponsors enough time to prepare and activate a number of their plans for the final.

“I believe the two weeks between the semi-finals and the final will do justice to all parties involved,” he said. “The league and Telkom will do everything to ensure that we put together a memorable event on 7 December.”

Telkom’s Nakedi Chiloane said, “We are excited to take this years’ edition of the competition to Mpumalanga. “We look forward to an exciting final.”

Meanwhile, the league has announced that it will soon release a revised league block fixture for matches initially scheduled for the weekend of the final.
