Trampoline gymnast set to compete abroad

ALEXANDRA - A trampoline gymnast competes in World Championships, thanks to a donation by Aramex.

Aramex South Africa has made a dream come true for a trampoline gymnast by sponsoring his trip to Sofia, Bulgaria to represent South Africa at the World Championships.

Xolani Nxumalo (19) of the Alexandra Trampoline Club has an opportunity to compete with the best gymnasts from 3 November to 10 November. The company’s Deijon Perumal said they would like to contribute more to Alexandra. He said, “Sport is a great thing to get involved in and it represents the culture of our business.”

Spokesperson of the Alexandra Trampoline Club, Strike Nkuna said it was refreshing that one of them was afforded an opportunity to compete among the best in the sport. “There is so much talent that is being explored and we should have more gymnasts competing abroad,” he said.

Nkuna said Nxumalo was talented, dedicated and loved what he did. “He has a lot of energy and this is an opportunity for him to learn because he will grow.”

Colleague Glenda Schmidt said Nxumalo would be an inspiration to other children. “This opportunity will give hope to

other children in the township and show them that they can also do it,” said Schmidt.

Nxumalo said he was excited about his trip and competing in the championships. “It is also my first time competing as a senior so I am looking forward to that,” he said..
