QUINTON Mulwitsky experiences what his retirement could look like.

Mulwitsky (26) a Bryanston resident, is a food and beverage manager at Intercontinental Sandton Towers. He participated in an advertising campaign that enabled him to experience what his retirement could look like.

The campaign concentrated on Mulwitsky’s steps to paving the way to his dream of travelling through Africa and owning a game lodge once he retires.

“I have never travelled outside of South Africa and hope to find a unique place in nature and build my own establishment there,” said Mulwitsky.

The campaign focused on a series of print, radio and television adverts to inform the public about financial savings. One advert has Mulwitsky spending a weekend at Madikwe Tau Lodge in the Northern Province to experience what it would be like to run his own game lodge 40 years from now.

When his professional career comes to an end, he would have saved enough to invest in his future financial plans. To attain his goal, Mulwitsky set up a retirement fund at the age of 23 to save towards his dream.

Mulwitsky told the Sandton Chronicle that hospitality was not his initial choice, but wanted to be a nature conservationist as he always had a passion for the outdoors. He trained at the International Hotel School in Drakensberg for two years and worked in the hospitality industry in St Francis Bay for five years before settling in Johannesburg.

When asked about putting money away into his retirement fund, Mulwitsky believed self-control was essential. He said society lived in a world of instant gratification and he would “rather wait to spend and grow interest on savings.”
