Follow home robberies continue to be a concern

FOLLOW home robberies in Sandton are still a major concern and Bramley police are urging motorists to remain aware.

According to Warrant Officer Moses Maphakela armed robbers have been following their victims home and robbing them at gunpoint in their driveways.

“They are taking expensive jewellery, watches, cash and other goods, as well as car keys, but never the car,” said Maphakela.

In once incident last week, a victim was followed home by a car with flashing blue lights.

“We are urging the community not to pull over for unmarked police cars. If you see an unmarked car, drive to a safe place, such as a petrol station, before getting out of your vehicle. We can also suggest phoning your security company or the police’s 10 111 number.”

Maphakela said the suspects drove a variety of expensive cars including a white Audi Q7 or Q5, and a silver Mercedes Kompressor. He believed that it was a gang at work, rather than several suspects acting individually.
