One Young World Summit inspires global youth

SANDTON Convention Centre is hosting this year’s One Young World Summit from 3 to 5 October. Young people from around the world have committed themselves to coming together and engaging on various issues that impact their lives every day.

Guests from China, India, Ghana, Jamaica, Kuwait and other parts of the world have used the opportunity to network and exchange ideas on how to make the world a better place for everyone.

On the first day of the summit, Dolores Duquette, one of the guests from the United States of America said, “The world is in good hands. The people that are here today really want to make a difference.”

Internationally renowned chef Jamie Oliver spoke at the summit about his Food Revolution project. He addressed the summit via a video call and said, “I want to inspire people to love food and understand how it can be good for them and also how it can be bad for them. Food education is very important and we need to start with the children.” He addressed the issues of malnutrition and obesity in various countries.

Oliver added that he has 670 food ambassadors in 85 countries that are a part of his project. “I am hoping that the delegates here today will join this project because food is a global issue,” he said.
