An ongoing construction nightmare

Alexa Seligman, a resident of Sandhurst, is less than pleased with the state of the roads in Sandhurst.

“Every day I turn into Empire Place, off Rivonia Road, and I am faced with the obstacles of massive cement trucks, workers and flowing water pipes on the road,” she said.

“The roads and pavements in the area are constantly under some sort of construction.”

“I have a problem with the manner in which the roads and pavements are being left after all the commotion and excitement departs,” said Seligman.

“The pavements are simply not restored to their former glory, and the roads are left in a dismal state. The amount of new potholes that each car has to dodge has increased dramatically.”

Seligman said it was time for the municipality to fix the road problems.

Ward 90 councillor, Gordon Mackay said, “Traffic is expected because of the construction, but motorists should have enough space to travel on the roads.”

Mackay added that the city council had not received any other complaints about the obstruction of traffic in that area. “The Johannesburg Roads Agency should be able to comment further on the matter.”

Seligman’s complaint was forwarded to the roads agency, but no official comment was received at the time of publication.
