More ‘default’ bin owners come forward

More Pikitup clients have come forward saying they too have been addressed as the "default owner" in bills sent to them from the company - for bins they do not own.

The Chronicle recently reported that Inanda resident, Jean Allen, was querying a bill for a third bin she did not own, addressed to her home address, specifically to the “default owner”. She said she had been receiving such bills for the past year.

Responding to the article, Inanda residents Bruce and Margot Weedon said, “We received an exorbitant account in September last year for the first time and after much querying, paid the amount. Since then, we have received an invoice on a monthly basis at home in the postbox – also to the ‘default owner’.”

As with Allen, the couple has not received feedback from anyone contacted at the Pikitup offices.

“We only have one bin. Do we continue paying on a monthly basis or do we stop all payments until this issue is resolved?” the couple asked.

The Chronicle had not received comment from Pikitup at the time of going to press.
