Montrose Primary School turns 45

SANDTON - Montrose Primary School was a flurry of colour recently when its staff and pupils celebrated the school's 45th anniversary.

To celebrate this momentous occasion, all the pupils adopted the theme of ‘absolutely everything counts’ which required them to embrace many values including tolerance, love and kindness.

Spokesperson of the school, Jono Leaf-Wright, said the school has also adopted a giraffe named Graham at the Johannesburg Zoo, who is the current school mascot.

Leaf-Wright added, “This year, because of the 45th birthday celebrations, each grade was given a colour of the rainbow as we felt that Montrose Primary School is a proudly South African school. Throughout the year, we have had activities [which coincide with the colour given] which all the grades have been involved in.”

Recently, the whole school wore specific rainbow colours and marched onto the field in the form a rainbow and sang in celebration of its 45th anniversary. The school ended the celebration with a colour fight, using powder paint, on the school field.

The school principal, Sylvia Buschberger said, “Montrose Primary School has had a very special 45 years and I am excited for the bright future of the school and the wonderful years ahead. The school is a very special place to many children, staff and parents. I know the school will go from strength to strength over the years ahead and it has been a privilege for me to be part of this excellent academic, sporting and cultural school.”
