Special Olympics South Africa hosts walkathon to SUPERSPAR in Hobart

BRYANSTON – Everyone played a special role. From the able-bodied to the disabled, everyone was considered equal and that was the aim of the initiative.

Special Olympics South Africa (SOSA) hosted a successful walkathon which saw participants walking from their head office to the SUPERSPAR in Hobart Grove Centre.

The walkathon on September 4 took place between 09:00 and 12:00 and left an atmosphere filled with high spirits. Everyone played a special role. From the able-bodied to the disabled, everyone was considered equal and that was the aim of the initiative.

Mrs Universe South Africa, Melody Zonda was there as well to show her support.

The distance covered during the walkathon between the two locations is about 3km. The Special Olympics South Africa walkathon event is mainly aimed at the empowerment of people with disabilities.

It also coincided with the SPAR Virtual Women’s Challenge Joburg, which saw thousands of locals walking, running or jogging.
