Community unites for partial reopening of the Bryanston market

BRYANSTON – At this stage, the market will only be trading for three hours on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.

Fabric masks, temperature checks and social-distancing practices allowed for the Bryanston Organic and Natural Market to partially reopen.

A number of residents flocked to the market on 23 May for its first opening since the lockdown began. According to founder, Glenda Moore, despite the long queues due to the compliance procedures, the atmosphere was wonderful. The market had previously been trading online, conducting weekly food deliveries.”We’re so grateful to every single person who took the time to visit us,” Moore said.

Because vendors selling goods permitted under Level 4 were only allowed to trade at the market, a number of vendors adapted and changed their product offering so that they too could join in. Inbar Assoulin, the owner of local jewellery brand, Inbar Collection, diversified her product offering and sold hand sanitisers so that she could trade on the day. At this stage, the market will only be trading for three hours on Saturdays from 10am to 1pm.
