11th Energy Indaba promises leading figures and experts from around the world

SANDTON – The indaba will be hosted at the Sandton Convention Centre on 19 and 20 February.


Leading figures and global experts within the African energy sector will convene in Sandton at the 11th Africa Energy Indaba to debate key issues keeping Africa’s energy leaders awake at night.

Discussions will highlight the energy sector’s innovations in Africa, exploring near and long-term prospects for technological advancements such as blockchain, where decentralisation and digitalisation play a more prominent role within the continent. The emergence of energy trading platforms such as securing energy supply and the importance of African Power Pools will be acknowledged and prioritised across key players. Regional integration will be a significant theme as well as the role of the private sector in innovation and financing of energy initiatives in Africa.

The global engagement effort will be led by Sean Cleary from Strategic Concepts who will be facilitating the opening plenary discussion around regional collaboration and developing the Africa Power Vision. The valued contributors to the discussion at hand will include Minister of Energy Jeff Radebe, Dr Christoph Frei from the World Energy Council, Dr Matar Al Neyadi from the Ministry of Energy of the United Arab Emirates, Dr. Ibrahim Mayaki from New Partnership for Africa’s Development Agency as well as Amandou Hott from the African Development Bank Group.

There will be a discussion around disruptive energy business models which will focus on the risks, underscoring the associated opportunities and dangers the African energy sector faces. There will also be discussions to showcase Africa’s renewable energy potential.

Other key issues that cause energy leaders to stay awake at night and to be discussed by even more energy luminaries at the Africa Energy Indaba conference include understanding the potential of energy storage and electric vehicles, delving into the future of the African energy sector and exploring the potential game-changers facing the continent and exploring funding solutions to accelerate Africa’s energy sector growth and development.

All these influential industry experts speaking to the most pertinent industry issues are set to ensure that the Africa Energy Indaba will be one packed with invaluable insights and opinions that are sure to shape the future of Africa’s energy landscape.
