New homes built for dogs

SANDTON – Almost a hundred people went to the Sandton SPCA recently to build kennels for Alexandra dogs.

The NPC Just One Thing 365 recently hosted their Home for the Holiday event at the Sandton SPCA.

The purpose of the event was to build kennels for disadvantaged animals in Alexandra. This according to Petra Laranjo, founder of Just One Thing 365 who said a Christmas wish came early for pets in need.

Laranjo said their tribe, community and celebrity ambassadors all came out to assist on the day. “We had over 90 people join us, from couples to families, friends and corporates. A lot of fun was had and the end result was incredible.”

She said they built 18 gorgeous kennels for dogs who have no shelter, with the help of their DIY expert Elle Franco.

“We also received a couple of second-hand kennels and gifts for the pet owner recipients – we encourage our tribe to make a difference in the lives of humans, animals and the planet.”

She thanked everyone that bought their DIY kennels and enthusiastically participated on the day and also for their further contributions of dog beds, cushions, food, children’s clothing and sweets.

Laranjo continued that more lives will be saved this holiday season as they will be purchasing additional ready-made kennels from supplementary donations.

“In addition to this, we’re inviting everyone to join me on the mornings of 24, 25 and 26 December at three animal shelters to give their dogs some love, because everyone deserves to be loved on Christmas and in the hope that some of those dogs find a ‘home for Christmas’. I’m also arranging for gifts for the shelter employees who will be there on the day,” Laranjo ended.
