It is said that back in 1585 English soldiers based in the Netherlands drank genever (gin) for its
calming effects before battle. This is believed to be the origin of the term
Dutch Courage.
Fast
forward to 2017 and the gin revolution is bigger than ev er with no exception to South Africa. Local
distillers are producing world class gins using indigenous botanicals (think Fynbos, Buchu and even
Rooibos). These brands have placed South Africa firmly on the international gin map and the world’s
taking notice.
On Saturday 30 September the inaugural
