2nd Annual Vita Basadi Awards
The Vita Basadi Awards is an initiative of the Gauteng Provincial Legislature (GPL) that recognises excellence by Gauteng women in various industries and acts of community service.
Do you know of a remarkable woman (young or mature) in your community who deserves recognition for serving and empowering others selflessly?
In the month of August, Honourable Speaker Ntombi Mekgwe will honour Gauteng women who make a positive impact in their communities without reward. The awards ceremony will be hdd on 31st Augvst 2016, at the Gauteng Legislature; Johannesburg City Hall.
You may nominate a woman you believe deserves to be recognised in any of the following categories:
- Outstaruling uth Philanthropist Award
A young woman philanthropist who helps others voluntarily through her skills and finances, demonstrating leadership andcommitment to the community.
- Community Heroin• Award
Deserving of this award is a woman considered to have the qualities of a heroine – a role model who inspires excellence and paves the way for others to achieve greatness through knowledge transfer and mentorship.
- Community Builtler of th• Year Award
A female leader who is passionate about community development. She puts her community first, inspires collective action and empowers the community to be self sustained through income generating projects.
- WOman of Honour Award
A female achiever in a traditionally male dominated. industry and has contributed to job creation for women within her industry. She has broken the gender role stereotypes and is an inspiration to younger women.
- Unsung Logeru/Award
Deserving of this award is a woman who has been serving her community for 20 years or more without recognition or compensation. A passionate community servant who seeks not fame or reward.
- 1h• Guardian Award
A woman in the Police or Military force who holds the fort and has
made sacrifices in the interest of her community.
- tmg Dignitary Award
A basic education (primary and high school) pupil who is positively influencing her peers and those older. She is a determined, positive and dedicated youth who never tires in helping others in different ways.
- Outstaruling Crt ativtl Award
An influential woman who positively uses her creative work to showcase the best of and uplift the value of women in society. e.g. Motivational Speaker, Poet, Fine Artist, Writer etc.
Eligibility
- Nominations are open to women who are residents of Gauteng only.
- All nominees must be over the age of 18. Except for the Young
Dignitary Award nominees.
