Bryanston High Pupil packs a punch

BRYANSTON - Bryanston High School's Erin McCardle has been selected to represent South Africa at the 6th World Traditional Wushu Championship in Chizhou City in China.

McCardle started representing the school in regional competitions last year and then worked her way into nationals.

From there on she was selected as part of the Elite Squad to start training to compete for a place in the Protea team.

Liz Edwards on behalf of Bryanston High School said McCardle had been training in martial arts for eight years in wushu and shaolin kung fu. “She has a very strong grounding in the art,” said Edwards.

“She has grown in a very short space of time in terms of competing. This is definitely a combination of a great master and determined pupil.”

McCardle is looking for sponsorship for her trip to China.
