Sandton Gautrain Station wins excellence award
SANDTON - The Gautrain airport service from Sandton to OR Tambo International Airport was awarded a customer service excellence award.
The media was invited to experience the top standard of customer service and take a trip from the Sandton Gautrain Station to the airport.
Gauteng MEC for Roads and Transport, Dr Ismail Vadi unveiled the Global AirRail Alliance Award (Gara) and said, “This proves that Gautrain can compete with the best in the world. What we have here is an integrated transport system that encourages economic growth.”
The Gara recognises the best practice in intermodal travel around the world. It is an international award dedicated to the air-rail industry.
Vadi told the media there was no reason why South Africa could not be the economic leaders of Africa. “We want to change the entire system of transport development,” he added.
He went on to announce that there will be more developments to come in the near future. Vadi told the media that parking at the Gautrain airport service will be open until midnight from 1 August and the platform will be expanded.
