Online site promotes small Sandton businesses

MORNINGSIDE - There's a new online site that supports small businesses in Sandton.

Morningside-based businessman, Kobus Koster started the site. He said, “My main passion is helping locals thrive in their local businesses.

“Life is so expensive, especially in Sandton. Small business owners are faced with competing with big businesses which is unfair.”

With SandtonSA.com, Koster provides online advertising for community members who want to get into the Sandton business pool. The site also provides a networking platform for local business owners and a place for community members to locate various traders in their area.

“I am making a special effort to get people to notice our smaller shopping centres. Many of them are battling as they struggle to attract customers. So many shops are empty and going out of business as everyone seems to go to the other, more established businesses in the area,” he said.

Koster, who is also known as JFK in the community, said the site is global and that he has already received feedback from international tourists who want to know more about the businesses advertised on SandtonSA.com.

He said he is also very involved in a number of initiatives within the community. On the site he promotes the Sandton Green Parks initiative as well as other various Sandton charities. Koster said he also works very closely with the police and the Sandton SPCA.

“I’m not originally from Sandton but I love this place and I see its potential,” he said. “I just want other people to see it too.”
