Bryanston joins movement to #bringbackourgirls
BRYANSTON - William Nicol Bridge became the scene for yet another peaceful #bringbackourgirls campaign.
Pupils of Bryanston High School created a stir in the traffic on William Nicol Drive as they joined the global #bringbackourgirls cause.
The pupils staged a peaceful protest in support of securing the freedom of Nigeria’s missing schoolgirls during the early morning rush hour.
Hundreds of pupils gathered on the pedestrian bridge over William Nicol Drive, holding placards demanding the return of the schoolgirls. Supportive motorists hooted their support as they passed by.
The pupils hope to raise awareness of the issue and thereby put pressure on the powers that be to effect the girls’ release. “We Bryanstonians are blessed to have the freedom to receive an excellent education. We want the same for those girls too,” said some of the placard-bearing Grade 10 girls.
