Krejcir trial continues

JOBURG - Numerous inconsistencies were found in the testimony of the first State witness, Vusi Msimango, in the trial of Czech fugitive Radovan Krejcir.

UPDATE: 14 May, 4pm:

Radovan Krejcir’s defence advocate Annelene van den Heever questioned state witness, Vusi Msimango, on the second day of the Czech fugitives trial.

Msamingo runs a small catering business. He has previously been arrested for two counts of robbery and for possession of an unlicensed firearm.

According to The Citizen, Van den Heever questioned Msimango about his relationship with policeman Colonel Nkosana ‘Killer’ Ximba.

The two men became friends while dating sisters about 10 years ago. Ximba allegedly phoned Msimango to express his surprise at Msimango’s involvement in the case. Van den Heever asked Msimingo why he had not called Ximba to report his involvement.

The trial continues.

UPDATE: May 14, 2pm:

Msimango told the court that he and another man named Paul had been questioned at the Bramley Police Station about the kidnapping and assault of Bheki Lukhele by Krejcir.

The court learned that Msimango had lied about his statement when asked which officer had helped him. When he reported the kidnapping, he received assistance from Bramley police officer, Freddy Ramaule.

He denied Ramaule helped him write the statement, however Ramaule’s signature was on the statement. According to The Citizen, Msimango had told the court that he left the police station at 4pm after giving his statement. The police officer who signed the statement, however, said the statement was signed at 5pm.

Msimango had been recruited by Krejcir to help find Lukhele’s brother, Doctor who allegedly disappeared with 25kg of tik belonging to Krejcir.

Msimango told the court that after Lukhele’s assault, Krejcir recommended they murder him so they could nab Doctor when he attended the funeral.

The trial continues.

UPDATE: May 14, 10.30am:

Msimango testified that Krejcir and his cronies accused a man named Doctor [no surname provided] of stealing 25kg of drugs from them. Krejcir and his co-accused then apparently kidnapped Doctor’s brother, Bheki Lukele and tortured him. Msimango claimed that boiling water was poured over Lukele’s face.

Krejcir then was alleged to have phoned Doctor and said to him that they would stop torturing his brother if the drugs were returned.

The drugs and Doctor were never found.

The trial continues.

May 12, 3pm:

Prosecutor Louis Mashiane read out the charges . Krejcir is on trial on charges of attempted murder and kidnapping. He also faces drug dealing charges with Desai Luphondo.

According to The Citizen, Krejcir’s wife, Katerina Krejcirova, arrived moments before the trial started and was accompanied by another woman. Krejcir kept glancing and smiling at his wife seated in the gallery.

The first witness, Peter Vusi Msimango, was called to the stand.

Krejcir has been denied bail several times.

The trial is on-going, and updates will follow.
