St Davids boys canoe to the top

INANDA - A large number of St Davids Marist primary school pupils participated in the SA interschool canoeing sprint competition.

The boys earned sufficient points to place them top of the Boys primary school log.

The South African schools sprint championships took place between 1 and 3 May at the Stormdrift Dam in De Rust, in the Eastern Cape.

Sprints is recognised as the most important canoeing discipline as it is the main Olympic discipline and juniors throughout South Africa compete in various distances including 200m, 500m, 1000m and 5000m to accumulate points throughout the year.

St Davids Marist Primary School won the Primary school category with 189 points with the second place runners up being H F Verwoerd Laerskool (Parys) with 110 and Bridge House Junior third with 99 points. St Davids also won the 2013 SA Interschool Canoe Sprint competition based on accumulated points at the event.
