Beatenberg to support Thirty Seconds to Mars

JOBURG - American rock group Thirty Seconds to Mars can look forward to some awesome local support in the form of Beatenberg.

Big Concerts announced the Cape Town-based pop act will open for the rock group when they tour South Africa in June.

“Beatenberg are South Africa’s new face of pop, comprising Matthew Field on vocals and guitar, Ross Dorkin on bass and Robin Brink on drums,” said publicist Dionne Domyan-Mudie.

Field said the band’s music was about “emotions, images and fleeting sense of things; the mad stuff that everyone feels and almost understands”.

Combined with extensive gigs and touring throughout last year, the name Beatenberg quickly became familiar after the release of debut single, Chelsea Blakemore in late 2013.

The band’s collaboration with DJ Clock on Pluto (Remember You) became the smash hit of the summer, and reached the number one position on charts countrywide for seven weeks.

Thirty Seconds to Mars, known for their energetic live performances and fusion of different genres, have gone on to scale the heights of rock and roll stardom since the release of their 2002 self-titled debut album.

The band’s fourth studio album, Love, Lust, Faith and Dreams, was released in May last year.

Catch Beatenberg and Thirty Seconds to Mars on 16 June at the Coca-Cola Dome, North Riding.
