Pedestrian critical after crash
BEVERLEY - A man sustained critical injuries after a car hit him on the corners of Mulbarton and William Nicol drive, on Wednesday afternoon.
ER24 and Life Fourways paramedics, as well as other services got to the intersection to find the man lying in the middle of the road.
According to ER24, paramedics immediately began their assessment and found that the patient had sustained a serious head and neck injury. Immediate advanced life support intervention was performed due to his critical condition.
The intersection had to be closed off for some time as the ER24 medical helicopter that was called in to help treat and transport the patient.
Once the patient was stabilised and placed on a spine board, he was airlifted to a hospital in Johannesburg for urgent medical treatment.
According to ER24, witnesses later revealed that the man had run across the road without noticing the oncoming car.
