Don’t forget safety at a police station

SANDTON - A Sandton resident has had her laptop stolen while visiting the Douglasdale Police Station.

The Douglasdale police have warned residents visiting the station that even though they are in the vicinity of a police station they still need to be weary of crime and follow proper security procedures.

Head of communications for Douglasdale Police Station, Warrant Officer Balan Muthan, recounted the story of a woman who visited the station to report a crime. According to Muthan the woman left the station and drove to Sandton. It was only at this point that she reached for her laptop which was on the front seat and realised that it had been stolen.

Muthan explained that the woman suspected that remote jamming was involved.

He said that on being alerted to this story the Douglasdale police conducted an inspection of the station’s parking area and found that four vehicles were unlocked and some even had windows open.
