Top honours at Discovery Sport Industry Awards

SANDTON - THE Discovery Sports Industry Awards celebrated South African sport.

Campaigns and brands from a wide range of sport including rugby, football, cricket, mixed martial arts, cycling, athletics, golf, basketball, boxing and horse racing attended the event at the Sandton Convention Centre.

One of the top achievers was the ABSA Cape Epic which walked away with an award in the category of Sport Participation Event.

Kevin Vermaak, founder and director of the Absa Cape Epic said, “We’re thrilled to have won the Sport Participation Event of the Year category. At the core of our brand is partnership, which starts with the two-person team racing format. Choosing your partner for the Epic is by far the most important decision you will make in your medal-quest. Our most important partnership is our partnership with Absa. We’ve invested everything we’ve got to give into building this relationship, and we feel that this approach has been mutual.”

Many other winners walked away with top honours on the night of the awards ceremony. Deloitte collected the Outstanding Contribution to South African Sport Award, MTN8 won the Best Integrated Sport Marketing Campaign and The Dreamfields Project was awarded the Sport Development Programme of the Year.
