Top quality training and facilities for football fanatics

SANDTON - Crusaders Football Club was launched in 2005 as the official football section of the Old Stithian Association.

The club distinguishes itself from other football clubs by focusing on developing female players. Greg Green, the club manager’s said football remained the fastest growing sport in the world and especially women’s football.

He said, “The club aims to develop talented young players within the South African community, with one of its main objectives being to provide players with access to top quality training and playing facilities, as well as specialist coaching where possible.”

Green believes that South Africa is a country that has a large base of young football players who display tremendous natural raw talent and balls kills. “While many youngsters’ dreams of becoming professional football players have been set back by a lack of proper development channels, plans were put in place to tackle this challenge,” he added.

The club’s emphasis is placed on the development of players between the ages of six and 17. Green said the club was open to players from all communities and backgrounds. “The club provides both recreational and serious football participation for all its members within a secure environment.”

He said members of the club represented the club in various inter-local football association leagues in the South African Football Association Johannesburg region. “At least 50 percent of the club’s younger players are from schools in surrounding geographical areas, affirming the club’s vision of remaining open to all. Therefore, players from these other schools are encouraged to join Crusaders Football Club this year,” concluded Green.
