Maintaining the streets of her ward

WARD 109 councillor Lillian Kekana summed up 2013 as a year of highs and lows.

She said, “Responsible citizens paid their rates and taxes this year and at least most of the billing problems were sorted out.” Kekana was also proud of the Johannesburg Roads Agency for working together with her this year in maintaining the streets of her ward. Kekana wants to continue with the fight against illegal dumping. “In Marlboro and Kelvin, illegal dumping is still rampant. I’m pleading to construction companies to do the right thing and dump in designated areas,” she said. Kekana added that a successful waste management system through Pikitup was underway. “We are approaching the festive season, to all I say, don’t drink and drive. We will meet again next year.”
