Year-end party honours domestic workers

SANDTON - Domestic workers were honoured at the Domestic Police Forum held at the Bordeaux Scout Hall.

The forum consists of domestic workers from Bordeaux South and Willow Wild/Hurlingham Five.

Leigh Driemel, who heads the Bordeaux South section of the forum said, “These women are the eyes and ears of the community and they work with the Randburg police and security companies to report and stop crime in the area.”

Throughout the year the women have received first aid training, fire prevention awareness, and they have learnt how to handle a crime-related incident. They work closely with the Randburg police as well as the security companies operating in the area. The women were awarded certificates and gifts for their hard work and commitment to curbing crime.

The Randburg police and security companies operating in the area were also acknowledged for their assistance and support of the forum.

“The Bryanston KFC, Pick n Pay, as well as Fruit and Veg City were kind enough to sponsor us with lunch for our year-end party,” said Pauline Dickson, who heads the Willow Wild/Hurlingham Five section of the forum.

Both Driemel and Dickson organised the celebration and handed out gifts to the special guests. “Everybody has worked well together as a team – let us continue to do so next year,” said Dickson.
