Touring South Africa on a motorbikeORA traveller’s dream comes true

HENRY Cole, the presenter of the World's Greatest Motorcycle Rides, has brought his show to South Africa. The Harley Davidson Shop in Morningside was the ideal place to officially launch the show's first South African series.

The media was invited to premiere parts of the series at the shop on 10 September. The show will document Cole’s eccentric tour of South Africa from Johannesburg to Cape Town.

“I wanted to experience the real South Africa on a motorbike,” said Cole. “I stayed away from the tourist routes to experience South Africa in a different way.” The series was shot in a month and it will be aired in five episodes on DStv’s Travel Channel, from 30 September. “It is all about freedom,” he added.

“This was really a dream come true for me. I met some amazing people while I was on the road.”

Cole said he enjoyed some spectacular local hospitality, including his ride with a chapter of female riders in Soweto.

He said he was especially amazed by the beauty of the Kalahari desert at sunrise. “That was where I really got to gather my thoughts and took it all in,” he added.

The entire show will be broadcast in more than 130 countries across Europe, the Middle East, Africa and Asia-Pacific.
