Know your neighbour: Jenna Harrison – The woman with a bright pink car from Hyde Park

An opportunity to learn first-hand how hard work continues to pay off for 21-year-old Hyde Park based Jenna Harrison.

Young, ambitious, and dedicated to raising her own dynasty someday, Hyde Park resident Jenna Harrison (21) took a beat off to let Sandton into her world of elegant designs.

After high school, Harrison followed her heart, which took her on a journey to realise her goal of becoming a real estate agent, photographer, and interior decorating designer.

Harrison spent the afternoon of July 31 with this journalist, sharing some features from her experience growing up in Sandton’s recent past. She reflected on Hyde Park as an incredible community to have grown up in, and its centrality to all her favourite pastime activities.

“We have a lot of friendly neighbours. Every weekend, someone’s out with their dogs for a walk – and one feels really safe in this area,” said Harrison. “It’s also beautiful. There are gorgeous places to go, like Circa Gallery, the park by Dunkeld, and more Parkhurst side. There are just so many beautiful places in Sandton, and, of course, Sandton City, for the shopping.”

For recreation, Harrison explained the tranquillity she gets from maintaining a balanced, fit, healthy lifestyle.

“I go to the gym because it allows you to escape your own head-space. the Sauna as well,” said Harrison. “There’s a lot of older ladies who frequent there, and I have chats with them. It’s a peaceful, meditation kind of room.”

Harrison shared how she entered the real estate domain three years ago, expressing how she learned more about herself, and the designs for her own future, from the industry. She has since branched out into her own thing, building on the experiences she gained from the field.

“Being in the real estate industry, you meet a lot of clients who are new homebuyers wanting to decorate their homes, and have no idea where to start,” Harrison said, explaining her new business model. “I’ve always wanted to be a designer. I made my way into graphic design, as well as picking up photography as a new skill. I’ve started interior decorating, mostly in the Fourways area. So yeah, I’m a working girl.”

Harrison is near-impossible to miss, as she crisscrosses across Johannesburg in her bright pink car. A young woman building herself a strong legacy of hard work in Sandton.
