Meet Zoey – the art-loving Pomeranian from Bryanston in Parkmore

A dog’s journey from Bryanston to Parkmore to see some art.

The bond between humans and their pets is special, especially the bonds formed between humans and dogs. Dogs tend to share a lot of common interests with their owners.

Where some dogs are comfortable with endless activity, Zoey, the loveable Pomeranian from Bryanston, prefers to flex her regal nature by sometimes attending art exhibitions.

July 13 seemed to be shaping out into a perfect day, when Bryanston resident Michaela de Witt showed up in Parkmore with Zoey riding shotgun in her arms.

“I got her as a puppy,” De Witt said of her three-year-old, easy-to-carry best friend. “She loves it when she sees people; she gets so excited.”

What stood out about Zoey was her attraction to the art, and the smile on her face as De Witt carried her around the exhibition. Zoey was not in Parkmore to run around, as she gets plenty of physical exercise at her favourite spot to hang out in Sandton.

“That would be Nice on Poplar, because she can run free over there,” said De Witt. “There’s a dog park and a restaurant, so it’s quite nice to go there.”

A companion with a smile as adorable as Zoey’s would be assumed to wear all the latest fashion. De Witt was asked what Zoey wears if she wears clothes.

“No, she is definitely not a fan of clothes,” De Witt laughed. “I’ve tried clothes, wanting to be the fur-baby mom with a dressed dog, but that’s not working for her.”

As every fur parent knows, a good pet always gets their favourite treat, and Zoey is no exception to the norm.

“Definitely boneless pieces of chicken in the evenings,” said De Witt.
Sensing Zoey’s impatience to return to her art tour, she flashed her elegance for the camera, ahead of she, and De Witt, setting off to enjoy the rest of their day.
