It was a day for games, joviality and community in Buccleuch on May 11, when the Buccleuch Residents and Ratepayers’ Association (BRA) hosted a Family Fun Day at John Street Park.
The event was characterised by picnicking residents, volleyball and 6-a-side soccer – as well as two jumping castles, and swing ball – for the young ones, and small community stalls.
BRA chairperson Lauren Nightingale briefly spoke about the process followed to put the event together behind the scenes.
“We followed the legal process, and had Johannesburg City Parks and Zoo’s approval for the fun day,” Nightingale said.
Sandton police also had a stall, where they were distributing information about community safety, security and intervention programmes available to residents and community members across Sandton.
“Sandton police were embracing and supporting community activities which also give police a platform to raise awareness of crime prevention, and share essential information to the public regarding safety tips, and crimes happening in the precinct,” said Sandton police local spokesperson Captain Bheki Xulu.
