Working his nine-to-five job at one of the five-star hotels in Sandton, Mokoto believes that side hustles are important and one should make extra income and build their own business while in their nine-to-five job.
According to the author of Don’t Quit Your Job Yet, seeing many people quit their jobs too soon without having a proper plan for their side hustles made him write a book that details his mistake of doing the same thing.
“This book, Don’t Quit Your Job Yet, was written to encourage new small business owners, hustlers, or those with passion for ventures in their small side extra-income businesses to not jump too quickly into quitting their jobs but to work while pushing their hustle.”
He added he made a mistake in life and dropped out of university when he was in his third year and went into full-time ministry.
“It was not long before the people in church stopped giving offerings and I was struggling to make ends meet, so I had to go back and regroup my life and get a job as a security guard.”
Mokoto emphasised that starting from the bottom to make a living was hard, and he realised that he should have stayed in varsity and finished his degree, then pursued his ministry part-time until he was financially stable.
“The book was released two months ago and we only printed 50 copies. It is now sold out and most of the buyers are my colleagues and guests whom I interacted with during work hours, and I am grateful for the support of my colleagues.”
