Meet Raheel Mottiar, a talented performer

The young actor hopes to encourage people with his great gift.

International talent Raheel Mottiar (18) is enrolled at Hilton College, an all-boys’ boarding school in the Midlands.

He studied for the Cambridge A-Levels and chose to major in drama, history and English literature. These have given him a more in-depth grasp of how theatre and art come to life and have inspired him with a variety of ideas and ways to express his artistic ways and forms. He has particularly benefited from dramatic arts.

Mottiar decided to follow his acting goals at the age of 15 by taking a leap of faith.

He auditioned for the International Arts and Talent Showcase which is held annually in Johannesburg.

According to Mottiar, about 1 000 people auditioned, and only 100 were selected to go to the International Modelling and Talent Association, the biggest talent convention in the world, where agents from North America, Europe, and Asia scout for their next prodigy.

“There I was judged by international agents, such as Joey Hunter (former president of Ford Models). Rhayvnn Drummer, Tyler Perry Studios, Nate Butler (The X-Factor Season 3) and Blaze Johnson (The Voice Season 6),” said Mottiar.

In July 2022, 17-year-old Mottiar attended a convention in the United States, which changed his outlook on life. He received eight awards, two scholarships, and 10 call-backs from international agents in New York, Los Angeles, and Paris. As an 18-year-old, he has taken on opportunities presented in New York, including performing in a film about an athlete managing mental health and attending a showcase in Dubai in August 2023. This experience has helped him navigate his final year of high school and explore new opportunities in the art industry.

He would love to inspire readers and uplift them by showing them that their dreams are not that far-fetched and that you can do anything that you put your mind to.
