Bryanston Country Club hosts networking opportunity for small business owners

Bryanston Country Club and the National Small Business Chamber hosted an unrivalled networking opportunity for small business owners in Sandton

The National Small Business Chamber hosted more than a hundred South African small business owners for breakfast in Sandton.
For attendees, it was a networking opportunity highlighted by a presentation by Experian – an international data analytics and consumer credit reporting company.

The networking event was held at the Bryanston Country Club on July 21. Among those in attendance was Sandton resident Eugene Parsons, who is the managing director at Cognosys which modernises businesses by digitising operational processes.

“We do business process automation and that looks after our whole business process,” said Parsons. “So rather than a human being doing the mundane and monotonous tasks, we get systems to do that for you. So it makes your organisation much more efficient.”

The keynote speaker at the event was Jaco van Jaarsveld, the head of commercial strategy and innovation at Experian in South Africa. According to Van Jaarsveld, small businesses formed the backbone of South Africa’s business economy.

“The crux and the heartbeat of this economy are small businesses,” Van Jaarsveld said. “When you consider that 60% plus of the youth is unemployed, we need to invest the time and effort in educating the youth in terms of entrepreneurship and to create their capabilities and make it easy for them to become entrepreneurs, and turn an idea into a flourishing business.

“The future of the success of this economy is 100% dependent on the youngsters of today setting up businesses which change the way this economy operates. We’re not going to turn this economy around through corporates or government alone.

He added they worked closely with the National Small Business Chamber to support entrepreneurs in building a business.

“We ask the small businesses to tell us how we make your lives easier. Then we use that information to build solutions and those solutions we make available to you as a small business owner free of charge.

“Those solutions are then used to automate tasks to simplify your life so that you don’t need to spend a lot of time on them. Our core objective is to take administrative burden away from small businesses, and simplify how they set up and manage a business.”
