Planned march by COSATU in Sandton
Beware of road closures due to the march in Sandton CBD.
The Congress of South African Trade Unions (COSATU) will be having a march on May 26.
According to the media brief, the starting time is 09:00 to 15:00, the march is expected to see 2000 people, and the assembly point is George Lee Park South.
The aim of the march is to submit a memorandum to the US Consulate and Massmart Game Headoffice on Fredman Drive.
The JMPD and SAPS public order police will be present to manage traffic, and Sandton Central will continue to monitor and report on the ground.
See below for the routes that will be used for the march:
Route:
- From George Lee Park
- Up Sandton Drive to US CONSULATE to submit the memorandum.
Then:
- Left into Rivonia Rd
- Left into West Str
- Join Fredman Dr to Massmart Game Headoffice to submit the memorandum.
RETURNING ROUTE FOR DISPERSAL
- Go down to join Fifth Str to Sandton Drive back to George Lee Park.
