Redhill School’s first netball team ranked third in the country

Effective communication, well-planned training sessions, and a positive team culture that fosters hard work and discipline define how the Redhill netball team carries itself.

Redhill School’s first netball team has been placed third in the SA School Sports rankings.

The netball team remained unbeaten for the whole season and became ranked third, which came as no surprise to them.

Speaking to the Chronicle, Ashleigh Gray, coach of the Redhill netball team, gave us an insight into the team.

Gray said, “As someone who has been playing netball my entire life and has recently been selected for a provincial team, it is truly a great feeling to see a team I am coaching level up, especially with the continued support from the school in believing in me.”

She added that she takes great pride in helping players develop their skills and abilities, both as individuals and as a team.

Having been coached by top coaches in the country herself, she learned the importance of effective communication, strategic planning, and creating a positive team culture and applies these lessons to her coaching style.

Gray lets the Chronicle into their secret of how they were not beaten for the whole season.

“The secret to an unbeaten season involved a combination of factors, including effective communication, well-planned training sessions, and a positive team culture that fosters hard work and discipline.” “It was most important to have a clear game plan and strategy that played to the strengths of the team, as well as the ability to make adjustments as needed during games.”

She encourages young netball stars to keep pushing themselves and to work hard towards their goals, and she remembers what it was like when she was a young player.

“Stay positive and believe in yourselves, even in the face of challenges or setbacks. Never forget the joy and passion that brought you to the sport in the first place. Be patient, understand, and nurture your journey.”
