Explosion at Brynorth Substation leaves Bryanston residents without electricity
After more than 10 hours without electricity, residents in Bryanston and parts of Riverclub may have to endure further after City Power reports an explosion at Bryanston North Substation.
The estimated time of restoration for residents in Bryanston and parts of Riverclub remains unknown following an explosion at the Bryanston North Substation on November 8.
According to City Power spokesperson Isaac Mangena, the substation tripped earlier today due to blown terminations on transformer connections and blown transformers on Ring Main Units 3 and 4, causing an outage.
“Operators are onsite waiting for Eskom to replace batteries and restore power. Estimated time of restoration is not provided at the moment.”

Bryanston power outage update 2pm@CityPowerJhb has experienced damage to their infrastructure at BryNorth (which we have been chasing them to attend to since Dec 2019 – see in Sandton Chronicle tomorrow). The rain will delay any repairs that need to take place. Vasbyt.⚡️
