ESPN Sports Fest gives fans a taste of American sports

ESPN Africa’s inaugural Sports Fest recently kicked off in Bryanston, giving sports fans a peak into the world of American sports.

ESPN Africa recently gave the community a taste of everything that the American sports channel has to offer in the months ahead.

Sports fans were treated to a fun day with an array of activations and good food at ESPN’s inaugural Sports Fest at The Campus in Bryanston on October 15.

Many took their turns shooting hoops, shadow boxing and even learning a few ball tricks.

According to Kyle de Klerk, director of sports commercial and business at The Walt Disney Company (of which ESPN Africa is an affiliate), the team was extremely excited to show the community what it had coming up.

“We deliver to a crowd that is swayed by music, travel, fashion, entertainment and sport, and we appeal to a youth market,” said De Klerk.

ESPN Africa is the only licence holder to broadcast the National Basketball Association (NBA), National Football League (NFL), Major League Baseball (MLB), and many more American sports leagues and tournaments in Africa.

The brand has also worked hard to uplift boxing in Africa and get in on the map with its ESPN Africa Boxing series, hosting monthly bouts between local and African boxers in Sandton.
