O Kae Molao sees arrest of over 1 400 suspects across Gauteng

Gauteng Police made over 1 400 arrests over the weekend during various O Kae Molao across the province.

Gauteng Police wrap up the weekend with more than 1 400 arrests for various crimes during O Kae Molao across the province.

Suspects were arrested for crimes such as possession of unlicensed firearms, dealing in drugs, possession of suspected stolen property, murder, attempted murder, rape, robbery, assault with intent to do grievous bodily harm and contravening of the Immigration Act.

According to SAPS provincial spokesperson Colonel Dimakatso Sello, most of the suspects were wanted and arrested during suspect tracing operations which is the first phase of Operation O Kae Molao conducted by the detective’s units.

“The operation also saw police make various confiscations of unlicensed firearms, drugs, illegal mining equipment and liquor taken from liquor outlets operating without a license and contravening the Liquor Act.”

Some suspects were released after paying fines while others are expected to appear before various magistrates’ courts across the province.
