Medley was born from the concept of a ‘medley of foods and flavours’. The main categories include seafood (including a wide variety of shellfish and fresh or frozen fish), Spice Route foods and ingredients, vegetarian/vegan options, and Halaal meats. The owner, Alida Haasbroek, is a food-flavour enthusiast and describes the Spice Route foods as some of the best in the world. The current focus is on Indian cuisine, but Alida is looking forward to expanding her product ranges.
As a lover of travel and experiencing new things, Alida would like to showcase this dynamic in her new specialty food store. The key that turns the lock for this store is inclusivity – to bring foods and flavours that are often considered exotic to many people – for those who possess the know-how and for those who are interested in experimenting and trying new things. Another critical aspect to the business is ease – delicious, quick and easy food products that can, in many cases, simply be heated up and served with a tasty sauce. As an example, simply grab the cheesy Tandoori Paneer Poppers available in-store, heat them up, and enjoy them together with the spicy Red Ginger Garlic Masala sauce for a tantalising appetiser or snack. However, for the more experienced foodies, there are also many different ingredients available to create either home-comfort or exciting dishes for the dinner party.
Alida believes in not only stocking foods that delight and excite the taste buds, but also in serving the demands of the community by providing them with nutritious, quality foods.
