Hyde Park security guard turned author hopes to inspire the community

A security officer from Hyde Park hopes to inspire the community to persevere through life’s challenges with the release of his next book, There’s a Light at the End of the Tunnel.

Friendly neighbourhood security officer Desmond Khumbuza hopes to inspire and motivate more people with his next book, There’s a Light at the End of the Tunnel.

This follows the success of his first book God Loves Orphans, which spoke about the personal challenges that Khumbuza experienced while growing up in the North-eastern part of Limpopo.

According to Khumbuza, while the first book focused on his personal experiences, the second book is more about giving advice and motivations to encourage and inspire people to persevere through any challenges that they may be faced with.

“This time around I am sharing advice with people, rather than speaking from my personal experiences. I am encouraging people to acknowledge that in life, everyone experiences challenges and the best way to overcome these challenges is to hang on and persevere with a mindset that at the end of every tunnel, there is light.”

While Khumbuza currently works as a reaction officer for Fidelity ADT patrolling the Hyde Park area, he has always had a long-term passion for writing and storytelling.

“Writing was always a hobby when I was growing up and now that I have seen just how much it can help people and make an impact, I will not be stopping anytime soon,” he said.

Khumbuza has always encouraged people to take up reading as a means to gain more knowledge and wisdom.

“I would like the community to stand up and support my books. I would like them to engage in reading and let’s make our country a nation that reads. I want to bring values into people’s life, I want to boost their self-esteem and I want to restore their dignity.”
