Winner of the 2022 FNB Art Prize thanks her team and family

Director of the FNB Joburg Art Fair, Mandla Sibeko, officially announced the winner of the 2022 FNB Art Prize award at the Zioux restaurant on August 18.

During the official announcement of the winner of the 2022 FNB Art Prize at Zioux restaurant in Sandton, lovers of fine art were all excited to share the spectacular moment with the winner.

Director of the FNB Joburg Art Fair, Mandla Sibeko, welcomed guests to the celebration of Dada Khanyisa’s achievement of being this year’s recipient of the annual award.

The prestigious award pays homage to artists situated in Africa by showcasing their pieces to the public at the Joburg Art Fair which will be held at the Sandton Convention Centre from September 2 to 4.

“It means a lot for me to be acknowledged by great minds who both love and appreciate the importance of expression. Being awarded this award is a symbol of personal growth. My inspiration directly comes from people stepping out of their homes and living.

I am a curious person who like to capture various social dynamics in this society,” said Khanyisa after thanking her friends, family, mentors and guests on August 18.

According to Sibeko, the talented artist will be displaying some of her creations at the fair with other artists. “This is our 12th winner of the competition during our 15 years of operating. After speaking to the judges, they informed me that there was no hesitation in announcing Dada as the 2022 winner. Khanyisa is incredibly talented, she speaks to a generation of South African artists and creatives,” said Sibeko.
“Art is all about reflection and interpretation of one’s society, she perfectly captured those elements.”

Family members of the recipient were all excited to share the moment with their daughter and various organisations that assisted her with support.

“I am looking forward to participating in more art fairs, exhibitions, collaborating with other artists and gaining more inspiration from various environments,” concluded Khanyisa.
