Bramley police recently arrested a suspect in Marlboro for assaulting a police officer.

During a patrol in the area, members of Bramley’s Crime Prevention Unit noticed a man allegedly sought by detectives for other crimes.

According to Bramley police spokesperson Captain Molefe Mogodi, two officers approached the suspect and tried to place him under arrest but the suspect resisted and began fighting with the officers.

“He allegedly grabbed the member’s firearm and was pulling it out of the holster but could not get it as it was locked in the holster. The suspect then started punching one of the two officers with clenched fists.”

The second officer assisted and overpowered the suspect. The suspect was detained at the station.

Mogodi added that more suspects were arrested for assault during the week of August 8 across the Bramley policing precinct.

The suspects were arrested for intentional damage to property, possession of a jamming device, fraud, shoplifting, possession of suspected stolen property, pointing of a firearm as well as by-law offences.

“Bramley Police continues to root out crime and stamp the authority of the state by arresting those who undermine the law of the country.”
